G.R.E.A.T. Summer Camp 2010

What a great time we had this summer being able to look back at the last three weeks. Week one brought the fifth-grade campers along with our seventh through 11th grade campers divided into two camps. One is sports camp and the other is cabin camp. During that first week it was fun to see our high school counselors bonding with the fifth-grade students making a positive connection. In sports camp they started out the week by testing in running, jumping, push ups and sit ups. Sports camp was also able to use the newly finished weight room. The equipment was donated by Chief Leschi School. The campers staying in the cabins started their quest to find Sasquatch splitting into different teams. They made their flags that they had to carry all three weeks of camp. If their flag was stolen by Sasquatch they had to perform a task to get it back. The fifth grade won a competition and they shaved my head. They made all kinds of threats on how they were going to shave it Mohawk etc. they all had fun taking turns. During the week all campers were able to swim, hike, canoe, fish and play different sports. We had circle every night. We were entertained afterwards with drumming and dancing by some sixth-grade drummers that stayed most of the three weeks Kaelen Sanchez, Toby Joseph, Sam Houston and Jose Walters. The fifth-grade students also were excellent singers, drummers and dancers. Read more...
