PTHA honors the Puyallup Tribal elders
For the second time this year, PTHA closed down Takopid to honor and serve our Puyallup Tribal elders. On May 27, elders were invited to get all their health-care needs met without making an appointment or waiting in lines. They also received information on medication management, blood-pressure checks, denture fittings, podiatry care, nutrition guidance and behavioral health care and awareness. Read more...
PTHA conducts needs assessments
In April PTHA conducted community interviews with 46 people on the topic of problem gambling in the community. Most of the participants felt that more than half of Native people had a gambling problem. When asked what needs to be done to prevent gambling problems, the most common responses included: community-based education, gambling prevention activities and financial skills training. The purpose of the interviews was to gather information and recommendations for program planning purposes. Read more...

Kwawachee Building celebrates 10 years
A community thrives in an environment of health, hope and connection. May 19 commemorated 10 years of creating a safe haven allowing community members to thrive. To mark the occasion, Kwawachee Counseling Center held an open house for the staff and general public, allowing participants to share memories, connect with resources and have fun. Information about stress management and alcohol and drug abuse prevention lined the tables in the waiting room area.
