Holiday festivities were in full swing at the Tribe’s House of Respect Elders Center on Dec. 16. The monthly luncheons there are always a great time, but during the Christmas season hearts seem to be lighter and an extra bit of cheer in the air brings easy smiles and lots of laughter. As always, Director Vernetta Miller’s decorating skills made the center cheery and bright, the staff did an excellent job keeping things moving smoothly throughout the luncheon, and the cooks whipped up a delicious feast of holiday favorites that everyone enjoyed. The Silverbells Carolers made a return visit this year, bringing a warm, traditional flavor to the luncheon and delighting the diners with expertly sung Christmas carols. After the plates were cleared, the Christmas present giveaway was on, as Chairman Bill Sterud drew numbers and beautifully wrapped gifts were distributed left and right. In the end, everyone took something home with them, making it a Merry Christmas indeed for the Tribe’s dear Elders.
