Patricia Lobb

LOBB

Patricia Lobb was born March 3, 1915 to William Joseph, a Puyallup Tribal member, and Rose Herrington of the Yakama Tribe. She had two older brothers, Arthur and Victor Ladderout, which caused her to grow up as a bit of a tomboy in her youth.

“We played outside, climbed the trees, played marbles,” she recalled. Her tomboy ways still hold true today as she enjoys watching sports – particularly the Mariners games, golf and NASCAR.

She married her husband of 63 years, Howard Lobb, in 1933 and they had four children together: Howard, Patsy, John and Victor. As newlyweds, the couple relocated to the Wenatchee Valley where Howard Lobb worked in the orchards and the sawmills during the Depression. He then spent 28 years as a state highway worker.

Patricia Lobb later went to work as a waitress at a restaurant in Cle Elum. Her mother, who lived in a small home behind the Lobbs, helped care for the four children while Patricia and Howard were at work.

“I enjoyed that job – I needed to get away from the family,” she laughed. Patricia also enjoyed basket weaving as a hobby during adulthood, and fishing with her husband.

Patricia and Howard moved back to Toppenish later in life, which is where Patricia Lobb still resides today.
