MILTON – Promising a taste of country and a place where locals can get a good bite to eat, the old Club Atlantis was reopened by new owners as Cedarwood Sports Bar and Grill July 21.
General Manager Keith Balsley said that the club’s location inside a large white dome creates a unique atmosphere.
“It’s hard to find a place for country around here,” he said, adding that the rarity of country venues in Pierce County was the idea behind the club’s new theme.
Inside, visitors will find a friendly and sports-oriented atmosphere with eight televisions, a large area for pool, darts and an extensive bar.
Starting Aug. 25 the club will have weekly events special. On Monday nights there will be pool and dart tournaments, karaoke on Tuesdays, jazz and comedy on Wednesdays, and country music on Thursdays. Sport nights are slated for Fridays with potential live shows from radio station KISW. Saturday will be country night with live music and line dancing. The theme for Sunday nights is still in the planning stage, Balsley said.
Plans for a grand opening will soon be advertised, and there has been talk about having several grand openings, to introduce each of the music nights, he added.
“It’s a whole new club,” Balsley said, who added that the new owners wanted to start fresh and hired new staff, remolded the inside to bring new colors into the tiles and entrance and offered a more extensive menu.
“We want to be a place where the locals feel welcome,” he said.
On the menu patrons will find a variety of salads, steak, burgers and even a moonlight breakfast, served anytime. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Happy hour specials are from 4-7 p.m. and there are always daily drink and menu specials. Cedarwood closes at 3 a.m.
There are also several banquet rooms available for company parties.
Balsley plans to host car shows in the bar’s parking lot and is planning for a benefit show on Sept. 10 to raise money for the Children’s Burn Center.
As the establishment is on tribal property, smoking is allowed inside. The maximum capacity is 300.
“We’re a whole new club with new owners,” Balsley said. “We invite everyone to come down and check us out.”
